The Complicated Blog

I’m just letting you know what I have started posting at my new blog, The Complicated Blog instead.

This is part of my plan of retiring this weblog to simplify the number of personal websites I manage.

If you have an email address that ends in, it will still work until the end of the year. Contact me if you need a replacement or head here to send me a message.

Posts here will be very rare.

Thanks for following me through this journey of moving sites.

Kindest of regards,

This is Idiologic’s Last Year

Hello, all of you. I’m just dropping a note to let you know that yes, I am still breathing. Well. Getting fired up about my career, you know, that kind of thing. I haven’t really been able to update anybody about what’s going on, but I will say that I’m really enjoying my time away. I miss my partner though, but I’m back home for the weekend at least. Next week is my last week away from home before I return and I’m thrown head first back into work for a while.

While I’ve been away, I am really thinking about what direction I’d like to go as far as this website’s concerned and I’ve decided that this will be the last year of Idiologic. I’m going to put this site in a hole six feet deep and bury it. I’m not expecting a zombie-like resurrection of it either. I don’t know… maybe I’ll cremate it and throw the ashes into the Gulf of Mexico… anyway, I digress.

What I will do however, is move my weblog to Complicated Noise. It’s only natural. It makes sense to have everything there anyway. I know that I have said in the past that I don’t really care about numbers of visitors, but at the same time I love statistics. Those statistics for this weblog haven’t been impressive for a long time. A lot of it is that it has become very hard to open my life up like I did when I was 18, 19, or 20. As the years pass, I’m a lot more concerned about what information I put out into cyberspace (or whatever the young people call it these days). I’m also a bit isolated from the rest of Australia since I’ve moved. It prevents exciting things happening and well, I no longer struggle with my relationships and stuff and I’m married and all.

One of the things I wanted to chat more of (and never did), is what day-to-day life is like with my partner but he’s got a bigger need of privacy. I respect that and respect the needs of his family to keep things a little quiet. That’s life and it was part of the package deal.

I guess that means that Idiologic will eventually disappear into the void around this time next year and I’ll start customising a version of WordPress for Complicated Noise. If I get that done at before then, I’ll just redirect traffic.

Anyway, I’ll still post here every so often and my new podcast episodes will be posted here. I’ll just post a bit of a notice that I’ve moved.

As always, it’s nice to have you around. Thanks for your continued support.

Complicated Noise Returns in February

Many of you already know that I am overseas at the moment, spending time with my family and friends. Well, after missing so many “deadlines” of new podcast updates, I’ve just thrown in the towel for the month and decided that I will continue when I get back to Australia. I’m just not in the zone right now to record or edit.

I will be back with a new episode the week that I return (hopefully) so I guess some of my exciting news will just have to wait until then.

You can always find out what my plans are for upcoming podcast episodes by visiting the guide at Complicated Noise.

I know a lot of my posts lately have been about me putting things off, but at some point I’ll be back at 100% speed. 🙂

Podcast Publishing Dates Reshuffled

Be thankful that I still care enough to post these things. Right now, I’m not really sure how long I’m going to keep this up. Maybe my schedule that I made for myself was a bit too eager. Anyway, I said that I’d do them, but I need to shuffle a few of them around because I’m too lazy to record and I also must record them when I’m by myself which isn’t going to happen during this USA visit (and that’s not really a bad thing).

I know the quality on the last recording wasn’t that great so I’m going to try something different. I brought along my microphone, but it’s only so portable. So instead of using the Airpods this time, I’ll switch to the iPhone-included earbuds next time. We will see how that goes. Maybe I can get some volume to my voice without feeling like I’m screaming! (Actually, I’m not sure what was recording my voice… was it my watch or was it the Airpods?)

Right now, I’m moving the one that’s supposed to be published on the 6th to the 11th or 13th, and the one that is supposed to be published on the 20th to the 23rd or 24th. I’m going to try my best to get them done before then, because the 20th until the 31st will be incredibly busy for my husband and me.

Anyway, again, I hope you’re well. Everybody take care of yourselves!

The Distant Future of Complicated Noise

OK, so the last podcast episode didn’t arrive yesterday. I had a pretty hectic workweek and the upcoming week looks just as bad, but I’m going to try to get something recorded and posted by this coming Thursday.

Why is this one a big deal, you ask? It’s the last one that I’m going to post before I leave for my extended vacation. It takes me about a week to recover from jet lag so I’ll post another one then.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned much about this, but things will have to be done a little differently. I am bringing almost everything I need to record, however, I won’t have access to my trusty Mac. Luckily, my sister has the same one but she’s not a fan of me loading all my software on her’s.

I doubt the Complicated Noise website will be done too – but I’ll work on it while I’m in the USA. I was planning to work on it today but the husband wants me to go shopping today. I guess I’ll do what I can.

I know I’ve been silent lately, but as I’ve said, I’ve been a little busy. I’m hoping to do and say more when I can relax a bit.

I’ll be in contact, I promise.

I hope everyone is doing well!!! Chat with you soon! 🙂

Contact Form Meltdown

I’ve been working on the new website for Complicated Noise and my hosting company informed me that they’ve moved me to a new server. A few things needed to be changed, but the contact forms refuse to work. I’ve been getting tech support help with it, but so far, nothing has fixed it. I keep mentioning that everything worked fine before the move but I think it’s falling on deaf ears.

If you need to contact me, you can still use the form here but after you submit, my site will appear to be stuck then eventually, reload the page. I won’t be emailed that you’ve contacted me, but if I come to the administration page of my page, I’ll see it.

Unfortunately, I only come here once every few days. If it’s an emergency and something’s really messed up, try using Telegram instead.

I’ll try to get things working again and finally get this new website up and running. 🙂

My Middle Name is Delay

I haven’t really been in top form lately, so I’ve been pushing a few little things back, including a new podcast episode. The last one, #40, was supposed to be available last Friday, but I’m going to hopefully post it this coming Friday. There’s not a really good reason to do that because it’s been recorded, but I haven’t put the final touches on it.

I’m probably going to cut a few more new episodes since my interest has started to wane a bit. I get into these periods when I don’t really want to talk about things, and this is one of these times. It just happens with me randomly and it explains why I haven’t been here or on Twitter much.

Update: I’ve deleted an episode in January. Not a problem though. I might remove another one in October or November.

I don’t want to linger around much here, so I’m gonna go. Everybody take care of yourselves.

PS: My middle name really isn’t ‘Delay’.

Reshuffling Episode Schedule

I’ve made a few adjustments to the episode schedule that you may or may not care about. I didn’t get around to re-recording the last episode and I don’t really feel like recording today, so I decided that I’ll post it next week.

Since I moved that one a week later, I took the opportunity to rethink my schedule for the rest of the year. You’ll find the revised dates in the table below. Keep in mind that the dates are more or less guides about the posting dates and they may change in the future. If they are changed, you’ll see them reflected below, at least until the end of the year.

The good news is that I will be posting the less-than-perfect episode I recorded last week for people who want to hear it. It’s not totally ready at the moment, but it will be, hopefully over the weekend, and a bonus unreleased episode as well.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Seriously.

A Few Podcast-related Updates

Hello folks! I hope everybody is doing well. I know I don’t show my face here very often anymore. Don’t worry, I’ve been a bit reclusive in my personal life as well. I guess it’s just because I’m trying to work as much as possible before I head off to Texas.

“Official” Name Changed

I’ve changed the name from The Idiologic Podcast to Complicated Noise on Apple Podcasts. If you’re already subscribed, you should see that TIP is gone and replaced by Complicated Noise. It’s full steam ahead.

Podcast Feed Changes

I am posting this to let you know that I’ve made a few changes to the podcast feed. I’ve changed the name officially to Complicated Noise and moved all the files and feed to the new website. I’m working on getting the guide together now.

Podcast Files Moved

I’ve moved all the files to the new website, so you should see each file being downloaded from the new website. The episode covers and audio files are all on the new server, but if you go through the posts on this weblog, they’ll still point to the files on this website.

The Episode Guide

I’m going to have to retire the old version since I hard coded a lot of the file locations in the guide. Unfortunately, I don’t want to go back and read through all the code. I’ve also been working on a new one. Take a gander here but keep in mind that I’m still working on it:

Yeah, I’ve reused code but I’ve added a lot to the functionality. The little RECAPTCHA logo in the lower right will only appear on forms.

It’s coming. I say by the end of the year. Of course, I want to get it done before I head off to Texas. I need to get the feed creation down before then. (Right now, I’m depending on Feeder 3 which I like, but want it all to be automated.)

In Conclusion…

I have a lot to work on still but I don’t want to be making changes to the old software right now because my “free time” is a bit limited. It’ll come at some point! Just thought that I’d update you guys.

The Mastodon in the Room

As if I didn’t have enough social media accounts, I’ve added another one. This time, it’s Mastodon. Basically, Mastodon is an open source social network. It’s similar to Instagram, Twitter, and etc but unlike those services, it is decentralised.

If you use Mastodon, or if you’re curious about what it is, my profile is here.

Possibly see you around there?
