Sometimes I just have to share some of my favorite videos and ladies and gentlemen, this is one of those times. Today, I bring you one of my favorite Missy Elliot videos. This one is "Beep Me 911" which pretty much has no more meaning anymore. I remember when pagers where the thing to get and I got one of them. Sadly, I had to go to a phone and call them back because cell phones were heavy enough that prolonged use would build muscles, the radiation would kill you and the bill was enough to kill you.
BUT... having said that, this video uses one of my favorite video editing techniques where some of the stuff is speeded up whereas some of the other parts weren't. And I liked the big Missy too. And I know this is going to sound super-gay, but I liked the gold dress she's wearing. If I were a woman, I'd so get one. Plus, Missy Elliot is hot. Fat or skinny. If I was 100% straight I swear I'd marry a black woman. :)
Anyway, here's the video as promised:
Then of course, as a bonus... another one of my favorite Missy videos, "Sock It 2 Me". There's a nerd that lives in me that loves old school games like Mega Man. Combine my nerdiness with Missy Elliot and you have this video. Then add in Lil' Kim and DaBrat and wooo... yeah.. :) A teenager's wet dream. Well, it was mine at least!
And here it is:
Hooray for Missy Elliot videos!
Hey everybody, this won't be long. Not by a long shot. I know I'm supposed to be working on "Gold Dust" but I made a short preview video of "Big Wheel" from Tori Amos's latest album "American Doll Posse".
So yeah, here is the preview:
Basically I'm making a story about my feet. They have a story to tell. A very interesting one. This definitely isn't my best work I've done, by the way. I put it together in like 10 minutes with iMovie HD.
Hi everybody. I won't be here for too long because I plan on going to bed pretty soon but I wanted to share a video with you of the destruction Hurricane Ike has caused. It's really scary when you put it in perspective. I've spent a good chunk of the day (while using the Internet) trying to find photos and videos of my neighboring cities where I lived. This video I'm about to share with you will show you just how much things have changed.
It's scary to think that this storm will cause some of my family and friends to move away and makes me question if it's really wise going back or not. These hurricanes are just spirit breakers I know. It seems like when I left people just got things organized from the one that tore everything up in 2005. Wow. I still can't believe it.
Sad thing is that I haven't "officially" talked to my family yet. I'm sure that things are OK because my mom did call me when they got back. I think they were lucky not to have to replace two houses. But that doesn't go for everybody.
Please, if you possibly can, donate your time or money to some of the relief aid back at home. I know it's a lot to ask sometimes, but they definitely need everybody's help. A good place to start is the American Red Cross. I know that I sound like a broken record, but this is very important to me. If you want to do one nice thing for me per year, do this. EVEN if you don't live in the USA, please help an organization. You'll never know when you or someone you love will need their help.
I will scrap the old idioPod 42 and replace it with a new one. I'll reveal more details about it tomorrow. I need to get to bed. I have important things to do tomorrow which I'll detail in the new 42. (You will eventually have access to the podcasts I didn't/don't publish. I'll tell you how soon.)
I came across a live version of "Me and a Gun" by Tori Amos while looking through iTunes a few weeks ago, maybe months. It is absolutely, without a doubt, the most haunting version of this song I've heard by her. It's downright creepy. I found the same live performance she did as the iTunes file, so watch it here:
I wasn't a fan of the song to begin with because it deals with such a touchy matter that makes me quite sad. When push comes to shove, no one "deserves" to get raped. I don't care how they look or what position they put themselves in. Our bodies are meant to be shared with those who we choose and not by force.
As I have said before, the best thing to do is to continuously be informed of the alarming statistics.
Approximately 3% of American men, or 1 in 33 have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime. In 2003, 1 in every 10 rape victims were male. 2.78 million men in the USA have been victims of sexual assault or rape. (For women, this is 1 in every 6 women and 17.7 million women in the USA have been victimized.)
Every 2 minutes, someone in the USA is sexually assaulted.
A victim of sexual assault are:
- 3 times more likely to suffer from depression;
- 6 times more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder;
- 13 times more likely to abuse alcohol;
- 26 times more likely to abuse drugs; and
- 4 times more likely to contemplate suicide.
People could tell me a million times that rape doesn't happen to men, but I'll tell you right now that it does. Only 10% of these cases are reported to the authorities. 60% of rapes/sexual assaults are not reported to police. 6% of rapists ever serve a day in jail.
To point you in the right direction to get more information, you can go to Men Surviving Rape or RAINN. (The statistics were taken from the RAINN website.) If you're in Australia, go to South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault. To get information about the myths of about male rape go here.
One of the things I am into lately and I guess I have been is Regina Spektor. And I love this song and video:
Or go buy it from the iTunes Music Store like I'm very tempted to do.
That's all. I have a big scab on my face from the dog biting me. I want to peel it off so bad.
I will admit that I almost forgot to post this like I promised but here you are. This is a small (in size and length) video of Gilbert (my partner) and I at the beach. I edited down about 10 minutes of video into something short so you won't get too bored and so my internet bill won't suffer. (Remember: In this country, the Internet still costs over $100 a month for a decent connection and still that's not enough.)
So bitching aside, I'd like to introduce you to one of the local beaches here. And I'll also introduce you to one of the stupidest things I've said on camera. (I really didn't know exactly where I was but I had a good idea where I was. Honestly!)
You'll see clear water, my partner, rocks, signs and bad spelling of some graffiti.
Anyway, enjoy this 2 minute 31 second video if possible but I'll let you know it's better than the other ones by a long shot.
Ah and oh yes, you can easily get these little videos and my semi-regularly updated podcast downloaded to your iTunes by clicking this right now.

Welcome to another video courtesy of my big weenie... dog. Yeah, got you excited there for a moment, didn't I? Well...
One of my dog's favorite toys is a pair of my underwear. It had some holes in it anyway. His other favorite toy is any sock. He just doesn't like to play with the toys that I bought for him or something. Dachshunds have a major thing for chewing on clothes. They love it.
This video was recorded using my external iSight and the lighting has to be absolutely perfect for it to make a decent video, so the quality isn't very good. But you can still he's a cute dog, right?
So yup, here's the video if you haven't already subscribed to my podcast, idioPod, which makes life so much easier, you know.
A short video part of my regular podcast about the park near where I live. Not very interesting, hell it's probably not even worth the video. It's sort of like an AOL product where they release products that should be tested and developed for 2 years more than the 2 minutes they spent. I just had to get one out. It's been a loooooong time. I'll make a new video on Friday when we go do our relationship register thing.
So here's the video:
I've been on Cyndi Lauper like ugly on an ape (and I was going to say something really mean and nasty instead, but I won't because I'm a pretty nice guy). [Like ugly on ____insert ugly person here____.]
Here's the video from MTV... well OK maybe not "from" MTV because last time I checked, they just have a bunch of boring reality shows and absolute garbage. I'll let you watch it then I'll comment on it. This is a great time to listen to "Into the Nightlife" if you haven't heard it yet. (And I have seen it in other places in much, much poorer quality too... this is the best I can find.)
And now we've seen it... you have to admit that she is an individual. And I love that, but an individual like her, I was actually expecting something, um, a little more creative. But I honestly would rather watch this than listen to any of Björk's stuff. And I was expecting to see a bit more of naked men. So I'll post a few pictures of my own shirtless wonders. :)

Mmmmm, Usher. :) Tasty.

Proof that you don't have to have a shaved/waxed/smooth chest to be sexy. (And muscular for that matter, but that's OK)

Hispanic men. I totally heart them. Even if he's not hispanic, that's also OK.

Probably not the best pic of this guy... but that will work too. Proof that you don't have to be a muscle-head to have an awesome body!
So I am hoping that is good for you like it's good for me. And if it isn't, you can probably just go here to see lots of pictures of titties and stuff. Why? Because everybody loves titties. Oh and if these are one of your photos and you're going to totally kill me for posting them, then send me a note. Why aren't there more pictures of sexy shirtless Mexican men, damn it!
For those who don't know who Brandi is, she's my best friend. You may have heard her on the earliest episodes of idioPod (and if you haven't, I suggest you ilsten to them).
Anyway, she has just told me that she's engaged to her boyfriend of one year. They've known each other for years on top of years, so it's OK. In a few ways, I'm very jealous but I already told her that. What she has accomplished in a year or so, I haven't even done in eight years. So damn it, kudos to Brandi!
A date to get married? I hope it's when I am there. I don't know too much but I'm sure if I were still in Texas I'd know everything... which is pretty sad. It's not really her fault or anything, but the distance just makes things hard. Very hard.
And the video? I'm going to steal it from her MySpace Videos page.
Usually when things like this happen, it's a domino effect. I am expecting Rowdy and Kate to be next. (I know you haven't heard much about them, but they're friends in Texas too.)
This comes hot on the heels of my first year anniversary being in Australia. I know both Adam and Brandi weren't expecting me to be here that long and I'm sure if I was there earlier, Adam would have done it sooner. But even if that's the case, I'm happy that they're engaged. :)
