September 2009 Archives
Singing bowls are a type of bell that isn't hung inverted or attached to a handle but sit with the bottom surface resting. Singing bowls were historically made in Tibet, Nepal, India, Bhutan, China, Japan and Korea. They are used for medication, trance-induction, relaation, healthcare, personal well-being and religious practice.
Silver Sky Imports sell these unique bells at great prices and have a great variety of sizes and designs. You can check out their crafts at Silver Sky Imports and find yourself a nice Crystal Singing Bowl.
I guess I could update you guys about what is going on, especially if you don't read my Twitter stuff. I wanted to let you know that I am delaying new podcast episodes until October sometime. I am pushing for the first week of October.
As you can imagine, things are a little off for me mostly because the sudden death of my father and yes, that is something I will definitely talk about in my next podcast episode because as I said before I never knew what it felt like to lose someone close to me until last weekend and I didn't know how I would react. A few people have questioned me about my coping mechanism and I must say that it is a little out of whack. But I'll talk about that soon.
I DID make an episode 94 but didn't post it. I had plans to post it the next Tuesday but things happen. Maybe I'll post it somewhere...
OK, so that's all for me.
Did you know that when it comes to first impressions, 90% of HR professionals place more importance on being well-groomed than a firm handshake? Also, did you know that in a recent survey of more than 500 HR professionals indicate that 84% of those HR professionals that well-groomed employees climb the corporate ladder faster than those who are not well-groomed? Well now you know!
Gillette has launched the Gillette Career Advantage on Gillette.com where job seekers and professionals looking to get ahead can review expert advice as well as take a Career Quiz. While you're there you can also view the Hire Guide to see what HR professionals really think.
When it comes to first impressions, you have to look great and find information about Gillette products or to review survey findings to get grooming advice and career experts. You can do that by visiting Gillette Resource Center.
If you're looking for a new job, career or just advancement in your own company it's a great place to start looking! We all know that finding a job right now isn't the easiest right now and if you can get some extra advice and information, why not utilize that information from a trusted brand in men's health?

I'm still in knee-deep in my funk so I thought I'd share some photos of my dad who very recently passed away:
![DSC00837[1].JPG](http://www.idiologic.com/journal/img/DSC00837[1].jpg)

In case you aren't my friend in Facebook or haven't followed me at Twitter, my dad passed away Saturday night at the young age of 53. This is a terribly sad time (as expected) for my family and I.
If you've been listening to my podcasts about death in general you will know that I am the kind of person who grieves in private or lets it sink in first.
I'm at a loss of words really because well, my relationship with my dad was more or less a good one. It could be worse and I am thankful that I did have the love and support of my dad (whether I realized it at the time or not).
Anyway, I do miss him immensely. I always will and I just wish I had an extra day or two with him. What this proves to me is that you really need to tell people everyday that you love them, treat them well, and if you aren't in good terms with someone, don't waste your time "maintaining" a crappy relationship.
I have also learned that I need to take a better glance at my health too.
So yeah, I can't really concentrate at the moment so I'm heading off to bed. Take care of yourselves and I will be back with new podcast episodes NEXT week (not this week as originally planned). Hopefully.
Just a little news folks! And today it's regarding my personal podcast, idioPod!
I'm beginning to feel a lot better and will begin recording this week. I'll still release it next week on Tuesday. I have a lot to say, of course. It feels like forever since I've said anything and I'm going to be belting out these little things called "feelings" and "emotions" so keep your eyes peeled and your eyes open for that.
Also worth noting is that I added a special account at Twitter for idioPod. You can add me by going here. I'll begin to post new podcast episodes there. That way people who aren't interested in my podcasts on my personal account won't have to deal with advertisements for my podcast.
(And if there are grammatical errors here, I apologize for that. Unfortunately, Microsoft Messenger is driving me absolutely crazy!)
Remember to go to idioPod.com and view the calendar to see when I'm going to post new episodes. :)
That is all!
I posted a long entry and it was eaten by the Internet.
I'll post it later.
So here I am, back in the USA and I thought that I'd write a bit about my trip so far. I didn't really mention it but I took V Australia instead of Qantas this time. The transfer in Brisbane was a bit of a pain in the ass. The cabin crew was friendly but didn't then again I didn't really see them much.
I think at the end of the day, I'd rather take Qantas. I didn't sleep at all while I was flying... well maybe and that's a big maybe 30 minutes. Of course I got my seat across from a screaming kid who woke me up every single time I nodded off.
The blindfolds they give you are practically useless. And I miss the little things Qantas does but VA didn't do.
The food wasn't spectacular. I had some lamb stuff (because my family has never eaten much of it so I thought I'd eat some before I left) and then the pancakes were just... tough. And not that appetizing at all.
The good thing about V Australia though is that they have some really kick ass in-flight entertainment. I watched about 6 episodes of Family Guy and kinda MADE myself watch 5 episodes of The Simpsons. (Has anybody else noticed that it's getting harder and harder to watch that show?) I played Bejeweled Deluxe 2 for a long time. Then Zuma. If you haven't played those, they're available for Windows and PC.
One thing that I was doing was watching "Milk" but didn't finish it. It's very empowering. Very sexy at times. But it's definitely something I'm going to have to watch. It was very interesting. I looked at how long I had left of the movie and it was like an hour and a half. So yeah...
Would I continue to use V Australia? If they keep their prices low, yeah, I would. But if they go up, I'll probably stick with Qantas.
I also wanted to thank you people in Australia who came to visit me, did things with me and such before I left. I really appreciate it. I appreciate even if you wanted to do something and I was just way too busy to do anything.
Ah yes, and just for the record, I'm not home yet. Just chillin' at the airport.
So idioPod's officially on a break and you might be curious to know what I'm up to. As I type this, I am still in Australia. I have to say that I am really going to miss this country because I really love this country. Maybe everything doesn't go exactly satisfactorily like I want it to, but hey, you tell me where life is perfect and I'll move there today. I know my last podcast episode just doesn't do Australia justice. But I think if you know what I get like before I fly, you'd fully understand. :)
Let's see, in about 2 days from now I should be somewhere in the USA. Where? Who knows but I know I'm going to be absolutely exhausted. So may be my last entry here for a few days. I'll continue to update it while I'm in the USA, so check often, okay?
I hope you all are doing well!
We have lift off... soon
I talk about how much I like Australia, things I'll miss from here, my dog and a few other things that pop into my head. Sorry, but I don't have the time or patience to go back and listen!
NOTE:
The podcast episode in the feed is a shorter version of this episode than I originally planned. The "original" is about 32 minutes long and contains recordings from two other days. I pretty much just combined the two versions so if you listen to the one in the feed, it's in the other one as well. You can download the longer version here.
Please remember that this episode will be the last for 2 weeks beginning 6 September 2009. I will be back the week of the 20th.
If you're looking for more podcasts to listen to while I'm away, please consider listening to these:

Are you sad over male chicks being killed in the egg industry? Me too. That's why I've made my own label to put on the eggs. This is mine:

All joking aside and as sad as this is, I don't think anything can bully me into adopting a vegan diet. Good for all the people who are vegans, but my decision not to eat meat a few days per week is good enough, right?
Isn't that better than this:

Animal activists that go way too far just rub me the wrong way... sorry.
Hi ladies and gentlemen, after announcing the release of Opera 10, I thought I'd write you a little bit about what's going on around me. I know I've been neglecting my weblog quite a lot lately so I am sorry if your very existence hinges on my every word.
I am recording a little bit of idioPod 93 every day to get it ready on Friday. One of the most important things I have to note is that iP 93 is going to be my last podcast episode for a few weeks (from 6-19 Sept 2009). But at the same time I say that, I'll be making small changes to my website (to pass the time) while I recover from jet lag.
Oh and have I ever mentioned how much I hate reality TV shows? I hate them. The Bachelor is on right now over here and I can hear it a few rooms away. It's really making me want to claw my eyes out. Can't stand "talent shows" and stuff either.
Anyway, I do want to let you know that I'll be working on iP 93 this week. That's about it. It's like 10:40 pm and I am dead ass tired. I really am. My dreams (due to the medication I'm taking) are just totally screwed up lately and I wake up several times per night.
Oh, and I really need some Opera friends so if you want, go grab yourself a My Opera account and check me out at http://my.opera.com/idiologic and I'll be super happy.
Those who know me (and who know me well) know that Opera is my all-time favorite browser. I have it installed on all my Macs and use it on Windows when I can. And what makes this a special post, you may ask? Opera 10 is out of beta and now I present to you Opera 10!
So what's new, you may ask?
- Opera Turbo: A new compression technology that will load your pages faster.
- A brand new interface: Looks great with the native skin for your operating system.
- Better tabs: View a preview of EACH page open... all at one time.
- Spell Check: Yes, Opera has spell check now!
- New icon: Opera sports a prettier application icon!
- Improved email client: Lots better.
- And so much more! Click here to view the much more.
So if you haven't tried Opera lately, now is a good time to do it. I'll admit to you that I'm using the builds with Unite and that's pretty cool too!
Grab Opera now and I can win a Wii + 2 games! :) Or you too. If you grab Opera, make an account at my.opera.com and add me as your friend. I am idiologic, of course. View me here.
