General / Website FAQ

Q: What is the best way to contact you?

Email.  You can email me through the form on this website.  I will reply as soon as I can.

If you want to leave feedback on a podcast, you can just leave a comment with the weblog entry associated with it.

Q: Why are you never on the cam?

Because I don't feel like it.

Q: If I am having problems with the widgets, what do I do?

If you're having issues with one of the widgets, use the contact form.

I will not be making a Yahoo! Widget [due to their neglect of the platform] or Windows Gadget [due to a lack of system to test with].

Q: Can you give me more information about the phone number I found on your site?

The phone number on my website is a forwarding number.  You will either connect to me directly or you'll be able to leave a voicemail.

Of course, there are no time restrictions regarding the phone number.  Call whenever you want to but know that I can't promise I will answer due to the fact that I'm not awake 24 hours per day and the potential time differences.

If you're calling to leave podcast feedback and you do not want your message played in a podcast, just let me know.

Q: I want to know about one of the widgets. Where do I go?

Seek out my projects page.

Q: Is this FAQ complete?

No.

Podcast FAQ

Q: What is idioPod?  When is it updated?

idioPod is my personal podcast that focuses on my life, my environment and little things that pop into my mind every once in a while.

idioPod is updated mostly on Tuesdays and/or Fridays in the country that I am currently in (though sometimes there are circumstances that prevent me from doing so).  I try to update it around 2-8 times per month most of the year but at the end of the year and through those holidays, I update idioPod approximately 2-4 times per month.

Most idioPod episodes are 15-30 minutes in length.

I try to do introduction podcast episodes semi-regularly for people who just start listening.  Right now, idioPod 70 is the latest introduction podcast.  If you're new, just listen to that one, then the latest podcast.

Every so often I post videos but don't ever know when I'll do it. :)

Q: When I go and listen to the podcast on your website, I see a "uploading podcast episode" alert.  It's been there for a very long time.  What's up?

It doesn't mean that the podcast episode is a million minutes long, it just means that I forgot to "flip a switch" to turn off the warning.  Would you kindly let me know?

Q: There are two versions of your podcast to download.  Which one do I grab?
Q: How do I subscribe to idioPod?

I make two versions of my podcast:  MP3 format and OGG format.  The reason I do this is more for technical reasons than convenience.  Since I upload two versions, people who want to use OGG format (which is 2x the size but same quality) can.

HTML5 will be creeping up on us quickly and sadly, some of the best browsers do not support playing MP3 files with the <AUDIO> tag, but they do support OGG files.  That's why it is there.

Not sure which version to download?  MP3 will be fine for you.  Many, if not all, players will play it.

If you want to give OGG a go, you can download a player and browser plug-in.  Go grab VLC and see you here soon.

You can also subscribe by adding http://feeds.feedburner.com/idiopod to your RSS reader.  (You will only be given the MP3 version.)

Q: I have feedback on an episode.  What do I do?

  • You can send an email if you do not want your comment to be public.
  • You can call me and chat with me or leave a voicemail by calling +1 (832) 380-4346USA: It is a free call if you click the number.
  • You can leave a comment on the blog post I used to announce the podcast episode.

Q: I'd like an Ogg Theora or Ogg Vorbis version of your podcasts.  Where can I get it?

Ogg Theora [audio] (.ogg) and Ogg Vorbis [video] (.ogv) files are available for the newest podcasts.  These OGG files exist for audio podcasts starting at idioPod 108 and for video podcasts starting at VidioPod 9.

To get these, please locate the weblog entry for individual podcasts and right-click on the OGG/OGV link to download them.

Idiologic.com and idioPod.com are tested and best viewed with a browser capable of understanding HTML5 such as Opera 10.50+, Safari 4+, Chrome 4+ or Firefox 3.5+.  Unfortunately, Internet Explorer does not understand most (if not at all) HTML5 but if you'd like to wait until 2025, they might by then.  I also make use of Javascript and cookies so if these options are turned off, the site may not operate correctly, if at all.
